When you trade with me or someone else, please bear these rules in mind because ALL TRADERS are bound by them:
1. NO trading for money! This is illegal in the United States of America, as these shows are copyrighted material. Selling or renting out these episodes for money is considered copyright infringement, which even I do not tolerate. I will not respond if you offer money for any episode in my collection.
2. NO trading for blank tapes/DVDs! They may be useful to help in future trades, but do you really think the trade would be genuine if traders traded episodes to get blank tapes and DVDs in return? I wouldn't think so.
3. NO emailing when I am unavailable! I understand I may have episodes you're seeking and may be eager to trade with me, but I set this rule up because when I was unavailable in my original days of trading, one person ignored it and actually sent me his requests and his mailing address right then and there. There are reasons if I'm unavailable, so please give me time to get whatever is required out of the way before we trade
These are golden rules, so abide by them please. Here is the process of how this works:
- I can do DVD or file share trading, each of which has their own set of rules. Please read below this section for all info
- If you find anything you are interested in, contact me at [email protected] and also send me your collection, and please make sure you have episode information (contestants and if you have them, airdates). If I find you first, I will look over your list and then send an email request to make sure of your availability. If we both find things that we like, we can initiate a trade. Please keep in mind that if you send me a request, I do reserve the right to deny your request for a trade if I don't see anything I'm interested in or if I'm too busy, but don't let that phase you. You can always try again later
- Although I do have a set minimum limit (see the DVD and File Trade sections for minimums), I have no maximum limit. Although there is no maximum, I strongly advise that the number of hours you request be suitable in terms of timing, because a high number of hours requested may take a while for any one trader to do their part (especially if it's on DVD), so keep the number of episodes/hours you request in a trade suitable not just for me, but you as well
- If you see a red text on an episode in my collection pages, that means I do have that episode but it is misplaced, and cannot be requested until I find the episode or find another copy in the circuit. Please wait until that episode text turns white to request it
DVD:
- A minimum for one disc is about two hours, give or take 15 additional minutes. I try to keep the ratio the same (2 hours for 2 hours). If there's any room left on the disc for at least more episodes, I will ask if you'd like to add on to it, depending on how much room is left.
- When I finish burning the final DVD, I will exchange my mailing address with you and you may do the same if we've never traded before. Although I do place the DVDs in a DVD-safe envelope marked with the episodes on it, they are sent in a padded envelope marked "FRAGILE: DO NOT BEND" for disc safety. I send via-USPS. Once the package is sent, I will email you a confirmation number for you to watch on the main USPS site. Please be sure that you do the same. If you are a first-time trader with me, to ensure fairness, I recommend you send your part first.
- I will confirm when I do receive your part of the trade.
FILE SHARING:
In the wake of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in March 2020, everything changed within the postal service. Although COVID numbers are easing, some places in the United States are still observing quarantines and restrictions, and some traders have reported delays in getting their DVDs to one another. In addition, I have been hearing it is becoming more expensive to send packages and/or maintain post office boxes. Although DVD mailing is still the only option for some and I can do that, a number of traders have also turned to the option of file sharing, or ripping our episodes from DVDs and putting them on cloud space to share with the traders. As it has become a faster and more reliable option, here is how it works for me:
- Although both Dropbox and Google Drive are good options for file sharing, I prefer Google Drive because it is more generous in my opinion and has better rates for those who may need to rent additional space. WeTransfer is also a good transfer site.
- Step 1 in the "DVD" section remains the same for email and episode collection matters but when it comes to file sharing, I prefer a minimum of six episodes (regardless of length)
- My preferred video formats are .MP4 or .m4v, but if you prefer a different format like .avi or .wmv, please let me know in advance so that I may convert to your specification
- When uploaded on Google Drive, please share file(s) with me directly, by then I'll download and burn to my own DVDs. I will send an email confirming when I download the files. I do ask that you send me the video files one at a time or a folder that fits up to 15 GB, I will do the same when sharing with you. If either of us run out of space on either of our ends, please be in contact so that we can download and delete in an efficient time so that we can free up space and finish sharing. Additional space can be rented if needed.
- To ensure fairness and being genuine, I ask that traders send me their end of the trade first before I send mine off through Google Drive.
- Since Internet connections can vary and also could theoretically have issues, to make sure that we all receive our respective ends, please do not delete the files that were shared on Dropbox/Google Drive until the other sends a confirmation that they have properly been downloaded
